The Blog Stops Here!

To close off the blog tour, we want to do something special for our fans.  This has already been an amazing month, and we could not have asked for a better group of blogs to participate.  We had a hard time figuring out what we were going to do, but in the end we decided to interview our own characters so that we could get to know them better.  One question for each of the characters that we love the most.  So, without further ado, here it is!

Read till the end for a your chance to win your own eBook copy of The Wand-Maker's Debate!

Gus, why have you been such a pain in the ass to write?

You think I am a pain in the ass?  If you had a complete dolt trying to make you steal pies from a window sill while being a serious Wand-Maker, you would be a pain in the ass too!  They should be thankful that I allowed them to write me at all!

After the first book, I had to take a vacation and find a great meadery just to recover from the shock of the experience.  A wise and mischievous prairie dog; please!  I would be better off having a blind man poke at a keyboard than having that man write for me!
At least he got my description right, or was that Ashley?

Osric, why are you having such a hard time accepting everything that is happening to you?

I have never had any desire to be anything other than a Vigile.  I have been put into a situation that I do not want to be in; I want to be in Stanton protecting the citizens.  Powers beyond me have chosen me for another path, but my mind is still firmly at home.  I invite anyone who wants this position to take it up; my dreams are much smaller than this.

Pebble, what do you think about all of the magic that is being discovered?

Ooh, I’s super love’s it.  There’s is so’s many pretty colors, and now’s I’s has lotsa things to look’s for in I’s see somthin’ you’s don’t.  I gets to meet a bunches of neet peoples too!

Bridgett, we have a lot of people who want to know more about you; are we going to get to know more about what it means to be a “maiden of the unicorn”?

Of course you will.  You will get to spend some time with me in the grove.  Not only will you learn more about my life, but you will get to see more of the unicorns, as well.  My only hope is that while we are there, we will be able to find something of use to Osric.  There is so much resting on him, and I am often overwhelmed by the strength of his emotions.  It is almost painful to stand too close to him.  Archana save me if he ever gets the nerve up to kiss me.

Machai, why have you decided to join Osric and his band of adventurers?

I be making a promise to a dragon, and I never be breaking me promises.  Osric be a good man, beneath his soft skin.  He be needing someone to harden him up and to be teaching him and his men to fight.  If the fate of Archana be on his shoulders, than I be guarding his back.

Kenneth, you seem to be able to bring Osric’s attention back to where he needs to be focusing, and you have a rather strong grasp on what is happening; how are you able to think, when everyone else seems to be overwhelmed?

I don’t let anything get to me.  There are far too many serious people on Archana, and I find that if you look at things lighthearted, than you can see things for what they are a whole lot better.  The key is knowing when to be serious, and acting the fool for the rest of the time.
As for being able to bring Osric back down to reality; that comes from knowing someone for a lifetime.  This is not the first time he has become overwhelmed by too many things grabbing for his attention.  I just give him a quick reminder that life is still good to snap him out of it.

This was our first blog tour, and we have had so much fun.  If you missed any of the stops along the way, make sure you go check out these great blogs.  Here are just a few of our favorite questions from the past month of interviews.  What a blast!

~ kristinasbooksandmore.blogspot.com
Describe yourself in three words:
Ashley: Creative control freak
Jack: Artist, Father, Friend...can you tell we described each other?

~Safireblade.com
How would you suggest new authors react / respond to critical reviews?
Jack: Throw a “My first one star review” Party!  You just joined the same group as J.K. Rowling, C.S. Lewis, Brandon Sanderson, Robert Jordan, Terry Pratchett, Terry Goodkind, JRR Tolkein, Steven Arikson, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Stephen King!  You couldn’t ask for better company than that!
Tabloid question #6 – Ashley, What would it take to get you up on the Karaoke stage?
Ashley: Haha, a miracle!  I have been accused of being conceited, but I am well aware of my shortcomings.  I have absolutely no singing talent and I make it a goal not to demonstrate my flaws.  Besides, if you ever listened to Jack sing Karaoke, you would understand why I wouldn’t want to follow him on stage.  He rocks!

~ AoBibliophile
AOB™: what did you both do to celebrate your first sale?
Jack: I had a beer while watching TV, does that count?
Ashley: I got a new tattoo.

~ Forever Lost In My Own World
Mireille:  And last but not least… if you could kiss any character from any book who would it be?
Jack: Kahlan Amnell, confessor power be damned!
Ashley: Joscelin Verreuil
Mireille: Pebble, can you give us any hints as to what might happen in the next novel?
Pebble: I’s gets to spends some times wif a bunches of unicorns; they’s are nice!  I’s play wif ‘em most days, and I’s making things.  Osric’s gotsta fights wif the bad guys, too.  He’s is gettin’ strong!  I think he’s is about to know things too, cause he’s is always thinkin bouts stuff and lookin’ sad.  They’s is silly takin’ so long to see; nobody looks right, and they’s missin’ lookin’ at it.

Indie Book Collective Changes Lives!

We had the pleasure of participating in a promotion last week, ran by The Indie Book Collective.  We gave it a full week before we announced our impression of the event, so that we could see how everything evened out after all the excitement had leveled off.  So, here is our impression of The Indie Book Collective, and all that they stand for, all their knowledge and expertise.

To put it simply, if you are a self-published author, or even a small press publisher looking for ways to get your clients books noticed: Stop what you are doing, and go to their site, sign up for all of their classes, invest in their advertising campaigns, and DO EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU TO DO!

Only a few weeks ago, Osric’s Wand was languishing (100 -200k rank) in the slush pile of self-publishing.  We were plugging away at things, seeing rising and falling ranks.  We even managed to hit a bestseller list for about 5 minutes in the UK Amazon site.  But, as with most of those who take the self-publishing route, we needed that “break”.

I joined many of the classes that they offered, and like a sponge, I soaked up everything that they would teach me.  Not only did I learn, but I also put into practice everything I could.  Immediately our sales grew steadier, and our rank held firm in the 50 to 70k range.  It did not stop there…

I joined the #LuckyDays #FreeParTay promotion with dozens of other authors, and we all worked our butts off for 5 days, giving away free eBooks.  The FreeParTay is a tried and true promotion that the IBC has pioneered, but we still worried a bit because of our lack of experience in promoting our novel.

Hand in hand with some amazing authors, we all promoted each other’s books through our social media platforms.  You can read all about the success of the event on their blog here

When the smoke cleared, and the promotion was over, Osric’s Wand had found a home in three bestseller lists, in three countries.  Not only did it find a place, but it has held its place in all three lists for over a week!  We sell more eBooks daily than we did in a month, now!  Our paperbacks have seen equally impressive gains in sales!  We are not the best performer of the group, either!

These people know what they are doing!  I highly recommend that everyone who is struggling in the Indie publishing scene take the classes they offer.  Put them to the test as I did.  They will change your life, just as they have changed ours!
